About Us and Our Blog

This is our mission statement, so to speak.

First, this really amazing man said something once that rendered both of us speechless the other day. We want you to hear it too:

“Who is more to be pitied, a writer bound and gagged by a policeman, or one living in perfect freedom who has nothing more to say?” – Kurt Vonnegut

On that note, here’s what you need to know:

We are not book agents. Or editors. Or publishers (Except on our own blogs). But sometimes we wish we were.

We are not any more special than you are just because we have an About Us page and a logo (unless you count the cape and ninja suit in our closets, and somehow people never do anymore.) We’re just the admin of the blog. You will be just as special when you’re a member. But only if you become a member. (Kidding!)

Both of us write. And plan to write a lot more over the years. We know how it is. Let’s face it; being a writer is tough.

How many times have you called someone up and said, “Inspire me” ?

How many times have you been frustrated beyond belief that you can’t write anything because, even though you know what to say, you don’t know how?

How often have the words just refused to come out right because you aren’t in the right frame of mind?

How many times have you wanted to toss around ideas with someone who sees things the same way you do — just to get your creative juices flowing– With someone who knows that it isn’t the ideas in themselves, but the tossing around that’s setting things in motion?

Most importantly, how many times have you experienced symptoms of the much-dreaded bane of a writer’s life, writer’s block?

We know that while most of you are fiercely independent, there are times that you need warmth, and support, and the teensiest of ego boosts. That’s what we’re here for. If you sign up, you’re volunteering to be there for each other. It’s a circle-of-life agreement. (Take it away, Rafiki!)
Here’s what we propose to do!

1. Deadline pestering for people who ask. (Tanya’s quite the expert at this. She pestered Sindhu systematically even when she hadn’t any obligation to. Buuut she got her writing again. So, we guess it works!)

2. Virtual book clubs where we discuss books that we choose to read. (Which of you HASN’T always wanted to do this?)

3. Constructive criticism for people who aren’t too shy to trust us with their pieces. (Be nice about this, members. We’re here to support, not cripple. Any malicious comments about anybody else’s writing will be deleted immediately. So don’t even think about it.)

4. Organize writing exercises, and blogging prompts, for fun and practice.

You can do all or any of this!
We’re open to ideas about how to improve, and we welcome guest posts. If you’d like to sign up, or if you have any questions, send us an e-mail at writersbloc.blog@gmail.com

Please remember, we’re a community. A bloc. Anybody can be a part of this – it doesn’t matter if you’re working on a novel or an English assignment.
